Announcement:

TRACK & FIELD OFF-SEASON STRENGTH & CONDITIONING STARTS MONDAY, OCTOBER 30. Sessions will go from 3:20 to 5:15 Monday-Wednesday-Friday. You must have a physical exam form and concession/sudden cardiac arrest form on file before you may participate.
See Coach Ludwig if you have questions.

Girls' basketball tryouts will begin Monday, October 16, at 5:30pm. Please meet outside of the auxiliary gym at 5:15pm. You must have a physical on file with the athletic office prior to participating. If you have any questions, stop by Coach Creech's classroom or contact Coach Sigler at 502-489-1627.

Anyone interested in being part of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) please email Mr. Cummings at rcummings@jcsc.org so he can add you to the roster. He will send you information on when and where we meet.

All-Sport tickets and fall season tickets are on sale in the athletic office.

Student All-Sport tickets are $50.00. (This ticket will get you into all sporting events at the high school excluding sectionals). Football, soccer or volleyball are $10.00 each. Stop by the athletic office to purchase your tickets.

GUIDANCE INFORMATION:

The following colleges will be sending an admission representative to speak with juniors and seniors who are interested in learning more about their school. Sign-ups are available in the Guidance Office.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The REACH Conference is sponsored by the Women's Giving Circle of Jennings County. The purpose is to provide leadership information and inspiration to young women here at JCHS. Outstanding speakers have been arranged, including Katara McCarty and her life coaches. A panel of local successful JCHS graduates will also participate in a question and answer panel. See Mrs. Jackson in 132 or Miss Evans in 110 for applications. Only the first 100 first will be accepted.

The Panther Pantry will be open Thursday from 4-6PM.

RED RIBBON WEEK is next week:

  • Monday- It’s Cool to be Drug Free Neon Day
  • Tuesday- Real Heroes Don’t Do Drugs Hero Day
  • Wednesday- These Paws Don’t Touch Drugs Dress up - animal related. Students sign a panther paws in homeroom “pledging to keep their paws off of drugs.” These will be in your mailboxes. Puppy morning in the courtyard before school if any students or staff would like to participate.
  • Thursday- The Drug Free Force is With Me Star Wars
  • Friday- Wear Red in support of a Drug Free World... Also on Friday, during B1, B2, W5, and W6 we will be having a Drug Awareness Presentation

Picture retakes are Friday, October 27th for underclassmen, faculty, staff, and seniors.

Debate Club will meet during PAWS on the 4th Wednesday of each month. There is still time to sign up, see Mrs. Ertel in room 212 to join


Senior and Junior Ladies: CHANGE IN DEADLINE DATE!!!! The deadline to get in your applications has been extended to Friday, October 20th. The mandatory meeting has been moved to Tuesday, October 24th. At 3:30 pm. You are invited to participate in the Hospice Gala Queen Contest on Saturday, February 10th, 2018. Packets were just dropped off to Guidance, and they are due to the hospice office. Please see Mrs. Taylor in Guidance if you are interested

Information about the Coffee Cart

  • New this year is a coffee card for students and teachers:
  • We would like to inform you about the new coffee card (Buy 6 get 7th free) available to both teachers and students.
  • In appreciation of your support- we are going to have a weekly drawing for a coffee mug for both students and teachers. Every time you make a purchase your name will be submitted into the drawing.
  • Coffee mug sponsored by St Vincent Jennings Hospital, until we run out.

Driver’s Ed: It is not too late to enroll in the next on-sight driver education program being offered at JCHS. This program is provided by Drivers Ed. L.L.C., after school, from 3:30 - 5:30. The course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. The cost of the course is $420 and includes all documentation needed to get a Learner's Permit and Operator's License. If interested, call 812-352-8400.

PARKING PASS: If you are wanting to drive and park at school, you need to see Mrs. Davis in East Wing Office before school. Parking passes will only be sold before school.

2017 Yearbooks will be available in room 212 during all lunches, between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m., and after school. A limited number of books are available to purchase if you forgot to order one. Order forms are also available for next year's book.

"The Rock," the free after-school program at the Solid Rock Cafe in Downtown North Vernon, continues to offer use of 5 computer stations, Wi-Fi, snacks, video games, and carpet ball -- ALL FREE. Everyone is welcome from 3:30-5:30 PM each school day! Transportation is offered for both JCMS and JCHS. Questions? Call the First Christian Church office at 812 346 3177.

Drivers Ed LLC

Drivers Ed LLC will be having a class in the JCHS library Jan. 23-Feb. 10 from 3:50-5:50 pm. Cost is $420 which includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel training. You must be 15 by the start of class. If you are interested in taking this class or you have any questions, please call 812-352-8400 from 8-4 MWF to enroll.

Travis Elementary Supplies

The Jennings County High School student council is adopting Travis Elementary School in Port Arthur, Texas. The students who attend the school suffered great loss from Hurricane Harvey and are in need of school supplies. The cost for the Powder Puff game is $2 and a school supply or $3. Proceeds will go to Travis Elementary School in Port Arthur, Texas.

Items needed: Pencils, crayons, scissors, glue/glue sticks, wide ruled paper, wide ruled spirals, wide ruled composition books, erasers, map pencils, dry erase markers, rulers, highlighters, hand sanitizer, Kleenex, Ziplock style bags (gallon and quart), folders, pencil pouches, wipes, paper towels, construction paper, white computer paper

Panther Pantry


JENNINGS COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL PANTHER PANTRY

Please note the Pantry is for our JCHS students and their immediate family members

The Panther Pantry will be open on the following dates in 2017-2018:
Aug.17, Sept.21, Oct.19, Nov.16, Dec.21, Jan.18, Feb.15, Mar.15, Apr.19, May 17

Hours: 4:00 to 6:00 PM

*If school is cancelled, the pantry will be closed.

LOCATION: JCHS Room 125B; Drive to back parking lot, enter through breezeway Entrance “I”.

ABOUT US: We are being assisted by The Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. Gleaners offers food and daily living supplies to the families of our high school students who are in need of assistance.
